Our Team

Lance Double
Managing Director/Technical Design

Lance has been immersed in the renewable energy sector since 2001, starting with the manufacture, design, and installation of solar thermal systems before moving into PV solar for marine, mobile, off-grid, and grid-tied applications.

In 2009, Lance co-founded Solar Electric Technology Ltd (ESolar) and in 2016 became sole director. Over the years, he has built ESolar into one of New Zealand's most trusted and respected solar providers — a reputation earned through technical excellence, genuine customer care, and a deep commitment to quality.

With over two decades of hands-on experience, Lance leads every project with the same passion that started it all.

“I believe that the success of ESolar comes down to our passion for renewable energy and the fantastic relationships we developed with our suppliers and customers.”

Alex Double
Marketing Manager & Human Resources

Alex joined ESolar in 2018 and has grown into one of the most integral parts of the business — keeping the ship afloat behind the scenes while driving the brand and team culture forward.

As Marketing Manager and HR lead, Alex wears many hats: crafting the ESolar story, looking after the team, and making sure everything runs smoothly day to day. Her passion for people — both customers and crew — is at the heart of everything she does.

"Working at ESolar is genuinely fulfilling. I love the variety and the challenge that each day brings, and knowing that our work is contributing to a more sustainable New Zealand makes it all worthwhile.

The team here is something special — and finding that balance between work, family, and the things you love is what it's all about."

Sean Marr
Project management - Solar Technician

After 5 years in Australia working as a communications rigger, Sean returned to New Zealand and worked in the real estate industry for a few years.

Sean joined ESolar in early 2019, looking for a new challenge and trained as a Solar Technician. He very quickly became a highly valued team member due to his dedication to developing his skill base.

Sean's role has developed to project management, stock control, technical support, and staff training.

“I really enjoy working within the renewable energy sector, especially with the new technologies that are constantly being developed.

I especially like working on Off Grid systems as we get to travel to and see some amazing and remote parts of New Zealand”.

Josh is now running one of our installation teams, and we are super proud of his passion and dedication to his installations and our customers.

“I really enjoy working in a close knit, family run business, which is passionate about the solar industry, using quality equipment and doing the job right the first time.”

"Working with Esolar has been a great experience. I appreciate the team's commitment to quality and innovation, and it’s rewarding to be part of a company that's truly making a difference in sustainable energy.”

Cyris Aldworth
Solar Installer

Cyris is one of our newest team members, joining ESolar at the start of his career in the trades.

From day one, Cyris has shown a real eagerness to learn and a great attitude on the tools — exactly the kind of energy we love to see in our team.

We're excited to watch him grow and develop his skills in the renewable energy industry.

Brodie Workman
Solar Installer

Brodie joins ESolar having completed his electrical pre-trades, bringing a solid foundation to build on as he steps into the renewable energy industry.

Already making his mark on the team, Brodie has shown a genuine enthusiasm for learning and a great attitude from the get-go. We're excited to help him develop his skills and grow within the industry.

Marley
Chief Relaxation Officer

Marley is the elder statesman of the ESolar team and takes his role very seriously — particularly when it comes to napping, supervising from a distance, and the occasional well-timed bark to let everyone know he's still paying attention.

A true gentle giant, Marley brings a calm and steady presence to the workplace. He has seen it all, and he is absolutely unbothered by it.

"I prefer to lead by example. Mostly the example of staying calm under pressure."

Bonnie
Head of Security & Logistics

Bonnie takes her job very seriously. No delivery truck arrives without a full escort, and absolutely nothing gets past the fence line on her watch.

With boundless energy and an unmatched enthusiasm for vehicle management, Bonnie is the self-appointed guardian of the ESolar premises — and she wants you to know about it.

"Some people solar. I patrol. We all have our calling."

Your boys have just finished installing our solar system - I’m very impressed with the job they’ve done, plus they’re both really nice young guys, very polite and courteous! Really glad I chose you guys over your competition! Thanks so much!!
