ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Close-up of a hand touching solar panels during sunset or sunrise.

Why should I choose solar power?

Solar energy is a clean, renewable source that helps you save on electricity bills, reduce your environmental impact, and protect yourself from rising power costs. Over time, it can pay for itself through energy savings, and it adds value to your property. With New Zealand’s rising energy prices, solar is becoming a smarter investment than ever.

    How does solar power work?

Solar panels on your roof capture sunlight and convert it into direct current (DC) electricity. An inverter then converts this into usable alternating current (AC) power for your home. You can use the energy immediately, store it in a battery for later, or export any excess back to the grid for credits through your power provider.

  • Modern house with wooden and metal exterior, large glass window, surrounded by bushes and set against a mountain landscape.

How much does a solar system cost?

The cost depends on your specific energy needs, the size of your home, and whether you include battery storage. A typical grid-tied system might range from $10,000–$20,000, while off-grid or hybrid systems cost more. We provide free, no-obligation quotes tailored to your home and lifestyle, and we always explain the return on investment.

Can I get finance for my solar system?

Yes, we work with several banks that offer low-interest home loan top-ups specifically for sustainable upgrades like solar. These are often the lowest-cost way to fund a system, and the energy savings can help offset the loan repayments. We’ll help guide you through the finance process.

How much money will I save with solar?

Savings vary based on your energy use and system size, but many of our customers reduce their bills by 60–90%. If you include battery storage and smart energy management, you can maximise your savings and even achieve energy independence.

Do I need a battery with my solar system?

A battery isn’t essential, but it does offer key benefits—like using your own solar power at night, having backup power during grid outages, and reducing reliance on the electricity retailer. Batteries are a great choice for anyone looking for greater energy resilience, but not essential.

What happens on cloudy days or at night?

Solar panels still generate electricity on cloudy days—just less than in full sun. At night, your home will either draw from your battery (if installed) or from the grid. Your system is designed to seamlessly manage this transition to ensure your power supply is always available.

    How long does installation take?

Most residential solar installations are completed within 1 to 2 days. Larger or more complex systems, like off-grid or multi-inverter setups, may take longer. We coordinate everything from delivery to commissioning and keep you updated every step of the way.

Can I monitor my solar system’s performance?

Yes—every system we install includes monitoring tools, either through an app or web portal. You’ll be able to see how much power your panels are generating, how much energy you're using, what’s going to your battery, and what’s being sent to or drawn from the grid.

  • Multiple white houses with brown tiled roofs equipped with solar panels, surrounded by green bushes and yellow flowers, under a bright blue sky with the sun shining.

Is my home suitable for solar?

Most homes are. During our initial consultation, we assess your roof orientation, pitch, shading, and available space, along with your current and future energy needs. Even complex sites—like coastal properties or rural homes—can be made solar-ready with the right design and equipment.
